Collection and Storage of Personal Data

We do not collect or store any personal data on this website.
No log files of website visits are created.

Use of Cookies

We use technically necessary cookies to permanently store the language selected by the user.

In addition, LocalStorage (also known as Web Storage or DOM Storage) is used. LocalStorage is utilized to store the layer view as well as the maps created by the user. These are therefore technically necessary "cookies." The storage is performed via JavaScript in the user’s browser and serves exclusively the purpose of restoring the opened layers upon revisiting the website and securing custom maps. This function is not used for tracking. It is neither possible to view the stored data nor to determine who uses this function, as the data is never transmitted to our server. If no layer selection is made or no map is created, no data will be stored in LocalStorage.

Use of Analytics Tools

We do not use any analytics tools on this website.

Data Disclosure

OpenStreetMap

This website uses the online map service OpenStreetMap provided by the following organization:
OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, UK.

The online map service enables the display of interactive maps for the visualization of geographic information. By using this service, we can generate your map and facilitate possible geolocation.

When retrieving a generated route map, certain information about your use of our website, such as your IP address, is transmitted to the provider’s servers and may be stored there.

The processing of your personal data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the appealing and user-friendly design of our website. If you do not agree to the future transmission of your data to the provider, the online map service can no longer be used (option: “Create map”).

An adequate level of data protection for the transmission of data to the provider is ensured by an adequacy decision of the European Commission.

PayPal Donation Button

Our website provides the option to process financial support contributions via the payment service PayPal. As soon as the donation button is clicked, a connection to PayPal’s servers is established. In doing so, your IP address and information about your browser are transmitted, among other things.

PayPal then processes the data you provide for the purpose of completing the payment. In the course of a donation, PayPal provides us with the following information:

• First and last name of the donor
• Email address
• Donation amount
• Any additional messages provided as part of the transaction

Beyond that, no data is shared with third parties when visiting our website.

Processing of GPX Files and Stored Maps

The GPX file you upload is used to create a map. This map is stored on our server for six months and then automatically deleted. The map contains only the track of the GPX file and no personal data.

Please note that the track may contain personal information (e.g., start or destination location). It is your responsibility not to upload any sensitive data that you wish to protect.
